Guide Review - Earth-Friendly Pet Supply: The Petmate Pet Bed

When it comes to choosing a pet supply, my cat and I prefer the earth-friendly kinds.

That’s one of the many reasons why my furry “assistant editor” and pet supply expert, Omar, and I love his new Petmate pet bed.

This 22- by 18-inch bed is made of 100 percent recycled fiber fill. It also has a puckered nylon no-skid bottom that helps keep the bed in place on the floor. In addition, the cover is machine washable with zippers in the back that make it easy to remove and replace.

Another thing I liked about this pet supply is that it was inexpensive, costing under $25. When I went shopping for pet beds after Omar’s last one bit the dust, I was quite taken aback at how costly they were. In addition, they weren’t as well-made or attractively designed as the Petmate model. So this is another plus.

The Arlington, Texas-based company that makes this pet supply knows a thing or two about pet comfort and sustainable pet products.

Back in 1964, Petmate’s founder Ben Doskocil designed the first pet carrier approved for air travel, which made the cramped wooden carriers previously used a thing of the past. In 1968, Delta Airlines enlisted the company to make all of its pet carriers.

In the years since, the company has branched out into other products such as the popular Doogloo dog house, the Bubbler water dispenser, pet supplies with materials that reduce harmful bacteria, automatic feeders that limit portion size to aid pet weight management, older dog products and numerous other pet supplies designed to ensure maximum pet health and wellness.
