Follow me on:

Hank for SenateIf you think the recent election was going to the dogs, you might be interested to know that the U.S. Senate race in Virginia went to a cat, sort of.

A kitty named Hank from Springfield actually placed third behind Democratic winner Tim Kaine and Republican George Allen in the race during which his owner, Mathew O'Leary, entered him as a gag.

The handsome Maine Coon, an independent who campaigned on the animal welfare and good government platforms, ran on the slogan "Vote the Humans Out!"

He succeeded in garnering upwards of 7,000 write-in votes.

Talk about a cat fight!

Despite that he lost by a whisker, Hank did manage to raise $60,000 for animal rescue and welfare groups.

So he's still a winner in my book!
