Worldwide market research firm Research and Markets Reports estimates that dog food and treats spending has increased in the U.S. for the year 2012.
The Dublin, Ireland-based company, which just added the Euromonitor International Dog Food in the U.S. report to its offerings, attributes this to the growth of households with dogs, which was up 2 percent for this year, the largest increase since 2007.
Meanwhile, the company also attributes the upswing in the overall dog food market to improved positioning and value for premium products.
